The modern trumpet is about 1 ½ feet in length made up of coiled tubing, ending in a flared bell, which can be nearly 5 feet in length. Trumpets tend to come in two flavors, in C and B-flat, although there are other trumpets pitched variously, such as the trumpet in D which was popular during the time of Mozart and Beethoven.
